Mary would like to explore a theme for this weekend. She invites us to consider the following:

Masakatsu Agatsu Katsuhayahi

O Sensei brushed this phrase hundreds, perhaps thousands of times in his lifetime. John Stevens has translated this as “true victory, self-victory, day of swift victory.” When I was in Shingu in the 1970’s Hikitsuchi Sensei shared with me the instruction he had from Osensei concerning this phrase. “Find your life’s mission, overcome the ego and experience victory that is beyond space and time.” In this seminar we will explore the significance of this favorite expression of Osensei and reflect on how we can incorporate these teachings in our training and in our daily lives. For those of you who attended the spring seminar at Vermont Aikido, this will deepen your understanding and practice of this teaching. We will have time to both train, reflect and share our own ideas and intuitions on how this teaching can enhance our Aikido skills and everyday life skills.
